During my time at Experts Exchange/RedSource Interactive, I had the privilege of partnering with Cal Poly to host the inaugural TEDx San Luis Obispo. With Experts Exchange as the lead sponsor, I led all art direction for the event (marketing, video, and venue) and designed and developed the web site myself.
Later, working in TransUnion’s San Luis Obispo, CA office—where TU’s product development teams are located—afforded me some amazing opportunities to work with California Polytechnic State University SLO. Staying involved in my community is something very important to me and I have had the honor of mentoring graphic design and computer science students at Cal Poly, volunteering at semi-annual portfolio reviews, career clinics, and the annual Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s Design-Dev Hackathon as a speaker and UX/UI coach.
It was my involvement with the Cal Poly Hackathon that led to TransUnion’s annual sponsorship of the event, and also inspired me to help TransUnion organize our own Hackathon as a recruitment and innovation lab event. Pictured is swag my team designed for our internal Hackathon, complete with our custom-designed typeface for the event.
